1. The first thing you'll see when you turn your NIC on for
the first time is the welcome page. Find the link that
says "I want to set up my own Internet account".
Click on this, and then on the link that says
"Dialup".
2. You will see a list of ISP's, and a link that
says "other". Click on "other",
then click on next.
3. Dial-up Provider Information:
Click on "Custom configure your NIC for a
particular internet service provider" then click on
"next". On this screen, select no proxy.
3. Telephone number:
If you have to dial the area code before making a LOCAL
call, type in the prefix. If not, select no prefix.
Enter the access number that was assigned to your
account. Click on next.
4. DNS information:
Enter the following numbers, according to which network
you are on.
Network Qwest (qw):
- Primary DNS: 4.2.2.1
- Secondary DNS: 4.2.2.2
Network Telia (te):
- Primary DNS: 205.199.193.2
- Secondary DNS: 205.137.48.7
Network UUnet (uu)
- Primary DNS: 198.6.1.218
- Secondary DNS: 198.6.100.218
Network Starnet (st):
- Primary DNS: 216.126.128.40
- Secondary DNS: 216.126.136.250
Click on next.
5. Use a proxy:
Select no proxy. Click on next.
6. Click finish to save and then Close. You are now
ready to connect.
7. Username and password: These were assigned to
you when we opened your account. Your username is your
"dus" log-on name. Your password is the password
that was assigned to you. You can change this password
later, but please use the one we gave you for now. You can
only connect if you use the username and password we gave
you. Make sure you enter all letters lowercase.
